I Cried unto God, Save Me - Psalms 119:146

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep your statutes”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred forty-six of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “ I cried unto you; save me” where we read,

I cried unto you; save me, and I shall keep your testimonies.

The verse begins, I cried unto you; The Psalmist began with the words, “I cried” or “I, the Psalmist, shouted aloud, proclaimed and summoned” “unto you” which means “to you, Jehovah God”. The Psalmist referred to how he called aloud unto Jehovah God.

The verse continues, “save me, and I shall keep your testimonies. The Psalmist added the words, “save me” or “rescue, deliver and liberate me, the Psalmist”, “and I shall keep your testimonies” which means “and I, the Psalmist, will guard, watch over, observe and preserve your, Jehovah God's, Divine witnesses”. The Psalmist appealed to Jehovah God to rescue and deliver him, and this would cause him to watch over and observe God's witnesses.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist shouted aloud to Jehovah God because he wanted to be rescued and delivered. This would cause him to guard and take heed to God's witnesses, and God wants the same for every person. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we cry out to and yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rescue us so we may observe His witnesses for all the days of our lives.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “I prevented the dawning of the morning”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
