In Psalms one hundred twenty-seven the Psalmist said, “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward”, and in chapter one hundred twenty-seven and verse four of Psalms the Psalmist said, “as arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth” where we read,
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
The verse begins, “As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man;” The Psalmist began with the words, “as arrows are” or “similar and in likeness to darts, shafts and spears used by archers” “in the hand” which means “within the hand of might, power and strength” “of a mighty man” or “belonging to a brave male champion, chief, and valiant male human being”. The Psalmist likened the following to sharpened spears in the powerful hands of a male chief or champion.
The verse continues, “so are children of the youth.” The Psalmist added the words, “so are children” or “even, also and indeed exist the offspring and prodigy” “of the youth” which means “belonging to the early life, juvenility or young people”. The Psalmist said offspring and prodigy given to young people are similar to the “arrows” within the powerful hand of a mighty male champion.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist likened “children” of young people to be like the “arrows” carried by a champion or warrior. They become benefits in the people who are armed with them in their lives. God's desire is to have a family of children from the human race, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind so this could be possible. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us “children” for our benefit and blessings according to His Divine purpose and plan.
Next time the Psalmist says, “happy is the man that has his quiver full of them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
