I Have Hoped for God's Salvation - Psalms 119:166

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “Great peace have they which love your law: and nothing shall offend them”, and in chapter one hundred and nineteen and verse one hundred and sixty six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “LORD, I have hoped for your salvation” where we read,

LORD, I have hoped for your salvation, and done your commandments.

The verse begins, LORD, I have hoped for your salvation, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “LORD, I have hoped” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God, I, the Psalmist, have waited, had expectation and tarried” “for your salvation” which means “for your, Jehovah God's, deliverance, liberation, prosperity and victory”. The Psalmist told Jehovah God that he waited in expectation for His deliverance and victory.

The verse continues, “... and done your commandments. The Psalmist added the words, “and done” or “and fashioned, accomplished, made, produced and performed” “your commandments” which means “your, Jehovah God's, ordinances, precepts and law”. The Psalmist said the reason he tarried for the “salvation” of Jehovah God was because He performed His precepts and laws.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist lived in expectation of Jehovah God's deliverance because He kept the law of God. God knew what was best for the Psalmist, and because the Psalmist relied upon and trusted in His direction, he expected to be blessed by God. God loves people, and He wants to have an intimate personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an opportunity not only to “hope” for His “salvation”, but also to perform His precepts all the days of our lives.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “my soul has kept your testimonies” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
