Feet Standing in the Gates of Jerusalem - Psalms 122:2

In Psalms one hundred twenty-two David said, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD”, and in chapter one hundred and twenty two and verse two of Psalms David said, “Our feet shall stand within your gates, O Jerusalem” where we read,

Our feet shall stand within your gates, O Jerusalem.

The verse begins, “Our feet shall stand within your gates, ... David began with the words, “Our feet” or “our, David and his people's, physical feet” “shall stand within your gates” which means “will remain, endure and attend inside of your, Jehovah God's, entry point of the city, marketplace and public meeting location”. David said he and his people would remain and endure inside of the entry point and marketplace of the following city.

The verse continues, “... O Jerusalem. David added the words, “O Jerusalem” or “O Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. David referred to “Jerusalem” as the place where he and his people could make entrance and remain.

When we think through David's words in this verse, we learn how David determined to remain within the entry point and marketplace of “Jerusalem”. He was joyful over he and his people making entrance into the dwelling place of Jehovah God, and he is determined to stay within the “gates of Jerusalem”. “Jerusalem” has a special place within the heart of God even as all people who yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. God wants us to be in His place, and He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and show us the value of making an entrance into “Jerusalem” on earth and the “New Jerusalem” which is yet to come. (See Revelation 3:12 and 21:2)

Next time David says, “Jerusalem is builded as a city”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
