Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem - Psalms 122:6

In Psalms one hundred twenty-two David said Jerusalem is where, “there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David”, and in chapter one hundred and twenty two and verse six of Psalms David said, “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” where we read,

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love you.

The verse begins, Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: David began with the words, “pray for the peace” or “ask, inquire, consult and beg on behalf of the completeness, soundness, welfare, prosperity, quiet, tranquility and contentment” “of Jerusalem” which means “belonging to Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. David instructed his readers and listeners to consult and appeal to Jehovah God to bring about calm and tranquility within the city of “Jerusalem”.

The verse continues, “they shall prosper that love you. David added the words, “they shall prosper” or “the people whether male or female who exist as follows will be at rest, quiet and at ease” “that love you” which means “who have great affection and fondness for you, Jehovah God”. David said the people who have great affection and fondness for Jehovah God would be at ease, quiet and rest.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David wanted his readers and listeners to make orations for quiet, tranquility and contentment to Jehovah God on behalf of the city of “Jerusalem”. He then shared a blessing that was to be upon people who are greatly affectionate for Jehovah God. This same God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will give us forgiveness of our sins, grant to us everlasting life and bless us with quiet and prosperity as we give our love to Him.

Next time David says of Jerusalem, “peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
