Hear My Voice God - Psalms 119:149

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “My eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in your word”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred forty-nine of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “hear my voice according unto your lovingkindness” where we read,

Hear my voice according unto your lovingkindness: O LORD, quicken me according to your judgment.

The verse begins, Hear my voice according unto your lovingkindness: The Psalmist began with the words, “hear my voice” or “listen, pay attention to and understand my, the Psalmist's, sound or noise of uttered words” “according unto your lovingkindness” which means “in keeping with your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, favor and pity”. The Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to listen and pay attention to his “spoken words” in keeping with His goodness and kindness.

The verse goes on to say “O LORD, quicken me according to your judgment. The Psalmist continued with the words, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “quicken me” which means “sustain, continue, make prosperous and restored the life of me, the Psalmist” “according to your judgment” or “in keeping with your, Jehovah God's, justice, ordinance, process, procedure and act for deciding a case”. The Psalmist appealed to Jehovah God to make him alive in keeping with His Divine justice and procedure for deciding a case.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to listen to and give him justice in keeping with His goodness. God is good, kind and faithful, and when we submit ourselves to His plan of salvation through His Son Jesus who came into the world to die for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and not only listen to us when we cry out to Him, but also sustain our lives in keeping with His perfect purpose and plan.

Next time the Psalmist says, “they draw near that follow after mischief”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
