Great Peace for Loving God's Law - Psalms 119:165

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “Seven times a day do I praise you because of your righteous judgments”, and in chapter one hundred and nineteen and verse one hundred and sixty five of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “great peace have they which love your law” where we read,

Great peace have they which love your law: and nothing shall offend them.

The verse begins, Great peace have they which love your law: The Psalmist began with the words, “great peace have they” or “much, abounding and numerous completeness, soundness, welfare, safety, tranquility, contentment and calm hold, own and possess the people whether male or female” “which love your law” which means “who have fondness and affections toward your, Jehovah God's, direction, instruction, custom, manner and codes of law”. The Psalmist said people who have affection toward the direction and instruction of Jehovah God experience abundant tranquility and contentment in their lives.

The verse goes on to say, “and nothing shall offend them. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and nothing” or “and not one thing” “shall offend them” which means “will stumble and cause them, the people who love the law of Jehovah God, to fall”. The Psalmist said there would exists not one thing that will cause the people who “love” God's “law” to stumble or fall.

When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we discover the calm benefit that is given to people who “love” the “law” of Jehovah God. They do not “stumble or fall” because they rely upon what God has said. Regardless of what they encounter in their lives, they can depend upon the “word of God”. God loves us, and He gave us His word to guide us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to love His “word” so we will depend upon Him no matter what situations and circumstances arise.

Next time the Psalmist says, “LORD, I have hoped for your salvation” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
