My Soul has Kept God's Testimonies - Psalms 119:167

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “LORD, I have hoped for your salvation, and done your commandments”, and in chapter one hundred and nineteen and verse one hundred and sixty seven of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “my soul has kept your testimonies” where we read,

My soul has kept your testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.

The verse begins, My soul has kept your testimonies; The Psalmist began with the words, “my soul” or “my heart, mind, will, desires, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and passions” “has kept your testimonies” which means “have guarded, observed, given heed to and watched over your, Jehovah God's, Divine witnesses”. The Psalmist shared how his heart, mind and will observed the Divine witnesses of Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say, “and I love them exceedingly. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and I love them” or “and I, the Psalmist, have fondness and affection for them, the Divine witnesses of Jehovah God” “exceedingly” which means “abundantly, forcefully and mightily”. The Psalmist said he was abundantly affectionate toward the Divine witnesses of Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist recognized how his heart, mind and will observed the Divine witnesses of Jehovah God. He was greatly affectionate for them, and he knew the importance of obeying God's direction for his life. God wants everyone to appreciate His words in this manner, and when we yield to what He has to say, we will have Him with us regardless of the circumstances and situations that come into our lives. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind because He wants to have a personal relationship with us, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He promises to forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a “love” for Him and His “testimonies” all the days of our lives.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “I have kept your precepts and your testimonies” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
