Seeking God's Good - Psalms 122:9

In Psalms one hundred twenty-two David said of Jerusalem, “Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within you”, and in chapter one hundred and twenty two and verse nine of Psalms David said about Jerusalem, “I will seek your good” where we read,

Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.

The verse begins, “Because of the house of the LORD our God ... David began with the words, “for my brethren” or “since and on account of the dwelling place, habitation and abode of Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God our, David, his kinsmen and neighbors', Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David referred to the dwelling place of Jehovah God who is the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God.

The verse goes on to say, “... I will seek your good David continued with the words, “I will seek” or “I, David, shall look, search, desire, exact and request” “your good” which means “your, the people within the city of Jerusalem's, pleasantness, agreeableness, excellence, value, appropriateness, rightness and prosperity”. David proclaimed that he would pursue pleasantness and excellence for the residents of “Jerusalem”.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David so valued the dwelling place of Jehovah God within the city of “Jerusalem” that he wanted the people there to experience excellent and pleasant things. God loves the city of “Jerusalem” and the people within it, and when we align with Him through His Son Jesus who was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be a part of His “house” and the “good” that is afforded to those who dwell within it.

Next time we begin a new chapter where the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “Unto you lift I up my eyes”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
