In Psalms one hundred twenty-six the Psalmist said “Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south”, and in chapter one hundred twenty-six and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “they that sow in tears shall reap in joy” where we read,
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
The verse begins, “They that sow in tears ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “they that sow” or “they, the people whether male or female who scatter yielding seed” “in tears” which means “with weeping”. The Psalmist referred to people who scatter crop yielding seeds while weeping.
The verse goes on to say, “... shall reap in joy.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “shall reap” or “will harvest their crops” “in joy” which means “with a ringing cry, entreaty, supplication, proclamation and praise”. The Psalmist said people who have sowed while weeping would harvest their crops with a ringing cry and praise.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover a promise of the Psalmist for people who “scatter their seed” in a state of sorrow. Though they may have suffered while sowing, they are blessed and happy when they harvest the fruit of their seed. God knows when we suffer, and sometimes there is a price to pay for faith-filled ventures. God will bless us with joy when we commit ourselves to Him in these times. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to sow His life in suffering and death on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to live with Him with joyful praise forever and ever.
Next time the Psalmist shares about, “he that goes forth and weeps”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
