In Psalms one hundred twenty the Psalmist said, “My soul has long dwelt with him that hates peace”, and in chapter one hundred and twenty and verse seven of Psalms the Psalmist says, “I am for peace” where we read,
I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
The verse begins, “I am for peace:” The Psalmist began with the words, “I am” or “I, the Psalmist, exist” “for peace” which means “on behalf of completeness, soundness, welfare, safety, health, prosperity, quiet, calm and tranquillity”. The Psalmist considered his existence to be toward and on behalf of “calm and tranquillity”.
The verse goes on to say, “but when I speak, they are for war.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “but when I speak” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover at the time and moment I, the Psalmist, utter, declare, talk and proclaim”, “they are for war” which means “they, the people who hate peace, exist on behalf of battle and fighting”. The Psalmist said at the time and moment that he made proclamations, the people who hated “peace” desired fighting and battle.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist made his proclamation for calm and tranquillity, but in contrast, the people who “hated peace” were actually for battle and fighting. God knows who is “for peace” and those who are “for war”, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord” , He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and not only recognize our passion for “peace”, but also contend with those who “hate peace” and desire fighting and “war”.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “I will lift up my eyes unto the hills”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
