Seven Times a Day Do I Praise God - Psalms 119:164

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “I hate and abhor lying: but your law do I love”, and in chapter one hundred and nineteen and verse one hundred and sixty four of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “Seven times a day do I praise you” where we read,

Seven times a day do I praise you because of your righteous judgments.

The verse begins, Seven times a day do I praise you ... The Psalmist began with the words, “seven times a day” or “sevenfold occurrences per sunrise to sunset” “do I praise you” which means “I, the Psalmist, give honor, glory, celebrate and commend you, Jehovah God”. The Psalmist declared that He gave honor, glory and celebration to Jehovah God sevenfold periods per sunrise to sunset.

The verse continues, “... because of your righteous judgments. The Psalmist added the words, “because of your righteous” or “since and on account of your, Jehovah God's, right and just” “judgments” which means “ordinances, justice, processes, procedures, litigation and acts of deciding a case”. The Psalmist said the reason he would give Jehovah God “praise” “seven times a day” was because His ordinances and procedures are right and just.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist was consistent in His worship of Jehovah God. God is worthy of our “praise” “seven times a day” and more because He is righteous, just and perfect in His ways. He loves us, and He proved His love toward us when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an opportunity to give Him “praise” throughout every day and night and unto eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “great peace have they which love your law” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
