Psalms one hundred twenty-five begins with the phrase, “[[A Song of degrees.]]” which breaks down, “A Song” or “a musical or lyrical ode” “of degrees” which means “pertaining to steps, stairs and ascents”, and in chapter one hundred and twenty-five and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist said, “they that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion” where we read,
They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides for ever.
The verse begins, “They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “they that trust” or “the people whether male or female who have confidence, security and boldness” “in the LORD” which means “within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “shall be as mount Zion” or “will exist similar and in likeness to the hill country or range of hills named Zion which means parched place and is another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”. The Psalmist said people who put their confidence and faith in Jehovah God will exist like mountain within Jerusalem.
The verse continues, “... which cannot be removed, but abides for ever.” The Psalmist added the words, “which cannot be removed” or “that in no way or manner is able to totter, shake, slip or be dislodged”, “but abides for ever” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover remains, sits and stays for long duration, everlasting, unto futurity and perpetually”. The Psalmist said “mount Zion” would not totter, shake or be dislodged, and it shall remain unto perpetuity.
When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he acknowledged people who put their faith and trust in Jehovah God, and he likened them to “mount Zion” in Israel which the Psalmist said is unmovable and will remain perpetually. God loves the people of Israel and “mount Zion” around which they dwell. This relationship demonstrates that God's desire is to have a personal intimate relationship with every person, and this is why He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the everlasting value of putting our “trust” in Him.
Next time the Psalmist says, “the LORD is round about his people”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
