Let My Supplication Come Before You - Psalms 119:170

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “let my cry come near before you, O LORD: give me understanding according to your word”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred and seventy of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “Let my supplication come before you” where we read,

Let my supplication come before you: deliver me according to your word.

The verse begins, Let my supplication come before you: The Psalmist began with the words, “Let my supplication” or “allow and permit my, the Psalmist's, cause, favor, entreaty and graciousness” “come before you” which means “approach and enter in front and in the presence of you, Jehovah God”. The Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to allow his favor and entreaty to approach Him.

The verse continues, “deliver me according to your word. The Psalmist added the words, “deliver me” or “rescue, liberate and set me, the Psalmist, free” “according to your word” which means “in keeping with your, Jehovah God's, speech, utterance and commandment”. The Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to rescue and save him in keeping with His Divine commandment.

When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we discover how he wanted Jehovah God to listen to his entreaty, and he desired to be rescued in keeping with Jehovah God's commandment. God loves people, and when we believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and not only hear us when we call, but also rescue us in keeping with His Divine purpose and will.

Next time the Psalmist says, “my lips shall utter praise” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
