In Psalms one hundred twenty-six the Psalmist said “When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD has done great things for them”, and in chapter one hundred twenty-six and verse three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the LORD has done great things for us” where we read,
The LORD has done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
The verse begins, “The LORD has done great things for us;” The Psalmist began with the words, “The LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “has done great things” which means “has performed, produced, accomplished and made important, powerful, magnificent and exceedingly large acts and deeds” “for us” or “on behalf of us, the Psalmist and his fellow countrymen”. The Psalmist included himself among the people whom Jehovah God performed powerful and magnificent deeds.
The verse goes on to say, “whereof we are glad.” The Psalmist continued with the word, “whereof” or “in the which” “we are glad” which means “we, the Psalmist and his countrymen, exist as rejoicing, merry and joyful”. The Psalmist shared how the result of God producing magnificent acts for him and the people of Israel was that it made them joyful and merry.
When we consider the words in this verse , we see how the Psalmist acknowledged the mighty acts and deeds which were performed by Jehovah God for him and his people. This made them joyful, and the same is true for those who realize just how many wonderful things God has done for them. His greatest act was to send His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and make us joyful over and over again as we celebrate His wonderful acts and deeds.
Next time the Psalmist says, “turn again our captivity, O LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
