In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “They draw near that follow after mischief: they are far from your law”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred fifty-one of Psalms the Psalmist said, “you are near, O LORD” where we read,
You are near, O LORD; and all your commandments are truth.
The verse begins, “You are near, O LORD;” The Psalmist began with the words, “you are near” or “you, Jehovah God, are close at hand”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist referred to how Jehovah God was very close to him.
The verse goes on to say, “and all your commandments are truth.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and all your commandments” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of your, Jehovah God's, laws, ordinances and precepts” “are truth” which means “exist as firm, faithful, sure, reliable, stable, continuing and truthful”. The Psalmist shared how every one of Jehovah God's laws and ordinances are truthful and reliable.
When we mediate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he knew God was “near” him, and he could rely upon the faithfulness and truthfulness of God's laws. God loved the Psalmist, and the Psalmist loved God. God loves everybody, and He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and reveal how close He is to us while we understand that His “laws” may be relied upon all throughout our lives.
Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “concerning your testimonies, I have known of old”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
