He that Keeps Israel - Psalms 121:4

In Psalms one hundred twenty-one David said, “He will not suffer your foot to be moved: he that keeps you will not slumber”, and in chapter one hundred twenty-one and verse four David said, “behold, he that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep” where we read,

Behold, he that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The verse begins, Behold, he that keeps Israel ... David began with the words, “behold, he that keeps” or “lo, look and consider, he, Jehovah God, who guards, observes, takes heed to and watches over” “Israel” whose means “God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob”. David instructed his readers and listeners to consider how Jehovah God watches over and observes the descendants of Jacob known as “Israel”.

The verse goes on to say, “... shall neither slumber nor sleep. David continued with the words, “shall neither slumber” or “will in no way or manner be dormant, drowsy or sleepy” “nor sleep” which means “be enticed to sleep or be asleep”. David said Jehovah God in no way would be drowsy, dormant or sleepy.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David confirmed that Jehovah God not only guards over the nation of “Israel” and it's people, but He in no way gets sleepy or drowsy while He watches them. God loves to watch His people, and He provides for and protects them. He wants a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and continually observe us even as His does the nation of “Israel”.

Next time David says, “the LORD is your keeper”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
