The LORD Shall Preserve Your Going - Psalms 121:8

In Psalms one hundred twenty-one the Psalmist said, “The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil: he shall preserve your soul”, and in chapter one hundred twenty-one and verse eight of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in” where we read,

The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth,

and even for evermore.

The verse begins, “The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shall preserve your going out” which means “will keep, guard, observe and take heed of your, the readers and listeners of the Psalmist's words', exiting, departing and proceeding forth” “and your coming in” or “and entering, attaining and being enumerated” “from this time forth” which means “at this appointed period and into the future”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God would watch over and protect the departing and entrance of the people reading and listening to his words from the present time forward.

The verse continues, “... and even for evermore. The Psalmist added the words, “and even” or “and indeed and also” “for evermore” which means “for long duration, into futurity, forever, everlasting, perpetually and always”. The Psalmist said the preservation of Jehovah God would indeed last perpetually and into futurity.

When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he knew Jehovah God would watch over and protect the departing and entrance of the people to whom he was writing. God wants to provide for and protect everyone, and He will especially do so when they surrender their lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and preserve and protect us as we leave and make our entrance wherever we may go.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
