Like Them That Dream - Psalms 126:1

Psalms one hundred twenty-six begins with the phrase, [[A Song of degrees.]] which breaks down “A Song” or “a musical or lyrical ode” “of degrees” which means “pertaining to steps, stairs and ascents”, and in chapter one hundred twenty-six and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist said, “we were like them that dream” where we read,

When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.

The verse begins, When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “when the LORD” or “at the time and moment Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “turned again” which means “returned, brought back and restored” “the captivity” or “the restoration or return of property” “of Zion” which means “pertaining to Zion whose name means parched place and is another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”. The Psalmist said at the time and moment Jehovah God restored the city of Jerusalem, the following occurred.

The verse goes on to say, “... we were like them that dream. The Psalmist continued with the words, “we were like them” or “we, the Psalmist and his countrymen, existed as people whether male or female” “that dream” which means “who are strong, healthy and toward good liking”. The Psalmist said he and his people became like people who are strong and healthy at the time Jehovah God restored Jerusalem.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist recalled the time that Jehovah God restored the city of “Zion” or Jerusalem to the people of Israel. The people were made healthy and strong in this event, and it all seemed like they were dreaming. God loves to restore people, and sometimes their lives have been put in such a ruinous state, that when he redeems them through a relationship with His Son Jesus who died on the cross for their sins, their entire lives change. God loves us, and when we yield our lives to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and restore us to a place that makes us healthy and strong again.

Next time the Psalmist says, “our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
