In Psalms one hundred twenty-four David said, “Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped”, and in chapter one hundred and twenty-four and verse eight of Psalms David said, “our help is in the name of the LORD” where we read,
Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
The verse begins, “Our help is in the name of the LORD, ...” David began with the words, “our help” or “David and his country-men's succor, aid and assistance” “is in the name” which means “exists within the fame, reputation and glory” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David proclaimed that the assistance received by him and his fellow countrymen was within the fame, reputation and glory of Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “... who made heaven and earth.” David continued with the words, “who made heaven” or “who, Jehovah God, formed, fashioned, accomplished and created the visible sky, atmosphere and place where Jehovah God dwells” “and earth” which means “and the territory, region, district, country and world”. David referred to the Creative and fashioning ability of Jehovah God who was the help of him and his people.
When we think through David's words in this verse, we see how he relied upon the willingness and ability of Jehovah God to give him and his fellow countrymen assistance. God made everything, and without Him nothing was made that could be made. (See John 1) This same Creator God wants to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and employ His “creating” powers to give us aid and assistance whenever we have need.
Next time we begin a new chapter where the Psalmist says, “they that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
