In Psalms one hundred twenty the Psalmist said, “Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!”, and in chapter one hundred and twenty and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “my soul has long dwelt with him that hates peace” where we read,
My soul has long dwelt with him that hates peace.
The verse begins, “My soul has long dwelt with him ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “my soul” or “my, the Psalmist's, heart, mind, will, desires, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and passions” “has long dwelt” which means “has for a great, numerous and abundant time lived, abided, tabernacled, settled down and resided” “with him” or “beside and alongside him, the person whether male or female who is as follows”. The Psalmist shared how his heart, mind and will lived for an abundant amount of time with people who are as follow.
The verse continues, “... that hates peace.” The Psalmist added the words, “that hates” or “who is as a foe and enemy to” “peace” which means “completeness, soundness, welfare, safety, health, prosperity, quiet, calm and tranquillity”. The Psalmist said the people he was living among were as foes and adversaries to quiet, calm and tranquillity.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover how the heart, mind and will of the Psalmist dwelt with people who were like enemies and foes to calm and tranquillity. The Psalmist was troubled by his company, and he appealed to Jehovah God because of his condition. God knows us, and He loves us. He sent His Son Jesus into the chaotic world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we yield ourselves to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and contend with those who surround us and are like enemies to calm and tranquillity.
Next time the Psalmist says, “I am for peace”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
