In Psalms one hundred twenty-eight the Psalmist said, “Blessed is every one that fears the LORD; that walks in his ways. For you shall eat the labor of your hands: happy shall you be, and it shall be well with you” and in chapter one hundred twenty-eight and verse three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “your wife shall be as a fruitful vine” where we read,
Your wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of your house:
your children like olive plants round about your table.
The verse begins, “Your wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of your house:” The Psalmist began with the words, “your wife” or “your, the man who fears and obeys Jehovah God's, female spouse” “shall be as a fruitful vine” which means “will exist similar and in likeness to fruit bearing and bending vines like grape vines that grows and produces an increase” “by the sides” or “along the flanks, extreme and recessed parts” “of your house” which means “pertaining to your, the man who fears and obeys Jehovah God's, dwelling place, habitation, abode and residence”. The Psalmist said the “wife” of the man who reveres and obeys Jehovah God will bear “fruit” like a bending vine that runs along the flanks of his dwelling place.
The verse continues, “your children like olive plants round about your table.” The Psalmist added the words, “your children” or “the offspring and progeny of the man who reveres and obeys Jehovah God” “like olive plants” which means “shall be similar to olive trees” “round about your table” or “that compass on every side and all about your, the man who fears and obeys Jehovah God's, spread out meal table”. The Psalmist said the man who reveres and obeys Jehovah God shall have offspring that are similar to “olive trees” that compass the table where he eats.
When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn of more benefits afforded to the person who is in awe and obedience to Jehovah God. Their spouse and children will be an abundant blessing to him, and their productivity will surround them like a fruit bearing vine and an olive tree orchard. God loves us, and He wants to bless us and our families. Regardless of where we are in life, God is able to pour out His blessings upon us when we yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins which separated us from a personal relationship with Him. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and bless our families in keeping with His Divine purposes and will.
Next time the Psalmist says, “thus shall the man be blessed that fears the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
