In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “You are near, O LORD; and all your commandments are truth”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred fifty-two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “concerning your testimonies, I have known of old” where we read,
Concerning your testimonies, I have known of old that you have founded them for ever.
The verse begins, “Concerning your testimonies, ...” The Psalmist began with the word, “concerning” or “in regards to and in reference to” “your testimonies” which means “your, Jehovah God's, Divine witnesses” the following occurred. The Psalmist referred to the Divine witnesses of Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “... I have known of old that you have founded them for ever.” The Psalmist added with the words, “I have known of old” or “I, the Psalmist, have perceived, seen, found out, discerned, distinguished and recognized by experience” “that you have founded them” which means “that you, Jehovah God, have fixed, established, appointed and ordained them, the Divine witnesses of Jehovah God” “for ever” or “for long duration, unto futurity, everlasting, perpetually, unto continuous existence and indefinitely”. The Psalmist said he perceived from antiquity that Jehovah God established His Divine witnesses indefinitely and unto perpetuity.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist knew the importance of the “word of God”. God established His “word” in such a way that it shall last forever, and anyone is invited to know Him through what He has to say. The Bible is God's “word”, and within the Bible we come to understand that mankind sinned against God and God had a salvation plan for mankind. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and forever prove to us the validity and truthfulness of His “word”.
Next time we begin the next section of the one hundred and nineteenth Psalm with the Hebrew letter “RESH” where the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “consider my affliction, and deliver me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
