In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the first-fruits of all your increase”, and in chapter three and verse ten of Proverbs Solomon said, “so shall your barns be filled with plenty” where we read,
So shall your barns be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.
The verse begins, “So shall your barns be filled with plenty, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “so shall your barns” or “then and for this cause will your, the son of Solomon's, storehouses” “be filled with plenty” which means “have abundance, be satisfied and complete with copiousness and plenteous”. Solomon shared how his son's storehouses would not lack and have more than sufficiency.
The verse continues, “... and your presses shall burst out with new wine.” Solomon added the words, “and your presses” or “and your, the son of Solomon's, wine vats into which the juice drains” “shall burst out with new wine” which means “will increase, break out, disperse and increase with freshly pressed and sweet wine”. Solomon said his son's wine vats would increase and overflow with freshly pressed wine when he “honored the LORD with” his substance, and with the first-fruits of all” his “increase”.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the wealth and riches of his son would increase tremendously when he honored Jehovah God with his “substance” and gave Him the “first-fruits of his increase”. God wants to bless us, and He gave us our greatest blessing when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and increase our wealth and riches according to His perfect plan and will as we return our increase back to Him.
Next time Solomon says, “my son despise not the chastening of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
