In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to your navel, and marrow to your bones”, and in chapter three and verse nine of Proverbs Solomon said, “honor the LORD with your substance” where we read,
Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the first-fruits of all your increase:
The verse begins, “Honor the LORD with your substance, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “honor the LORD” or “ glorify and adore Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “with your substance” which means “by the use of your, Solomon's son's, wealth, riches and sufficiency”. Solomon instructed his son to glorify Jehovah God with his riches and wealth.
The verse goes on to say, “... and with the first-fruits of all your increase:” Solomon continued with the words, “and with the first-fruits” or “and by the use of the best, chief and choicest part” “of all your increase” which means “pertaining to each, every, the whole and everyone of your, Solomon's son's, produce, product, revenue, yield, crops and income”. Solomon told his son to give glory to Jehovah God by the use of the chief and best part of all his revenue and income.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon wanted his son to give glory and adoration to Jehovah God with his wealth and riches. God was to be given the best of his income not only because He is God, but because He supplied one hundred percent of his revenue. God is a giver, and no one can out give Him. He gave His Only Begotten Son Jesus to the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and condition us to give Him “glory” by returning to Him the “first-fruits” of our “increase”.
Next time Solomon says, “so shall your barns be filled with plenty”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
