Crooked Ways and Froward Paths - Proverbs 2:15

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto your soul. Discretion shall preserve you, understanding shall keep you. To deliver you from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaks froward things. Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness. Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked”, and in chapter two and verse fifteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “whose ways are crooked” where we read,

Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

The verse begins, Whose ways are crooked, .... Solomon began with the words, “whose ways” or “what person's, whether male or female, paths, passing of life, travels and manner” “are crooked” which means “exist as twisted, distorted and false”. Solomon shared how the people who “do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked” have twisted and distorted ways of living.

The verse goes on to say, “... and they froward in their paths:” Solomon continues with the words, “and they froward” or “and they, the people who do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked, depart, turn aside, go wrong and are perverse” “in their paths” which means “within their, the evil and froward speaking's, goings, entrenchments, ramparts and tracks”. Solomon said the people who “do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked” go wrong and are perverse within their own manner of living.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people who perform wicked deeds and speak fraudulently follow in the track of those they emulate. In other words, they become like the wicked people who surround them. (See 1 Corinthians 15:33) God desires to pull us away from those wicked lifestyles, and He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and show us how to live according to His ways when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. Let all who read these words yield to Jesus, and receive God's way of living today.

Next time Solomon says, “to deliver you from the strange woman”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
