Delivered from the Strange Woman - Proverbs 2:16

In the book of Proverbs Solomon shared how wisdom would, “deliver you from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaks froward things. Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness. Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked. Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths”, and in chapter two and verse sixteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “to deliver you from the strange woman” where we read,

To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flatters with her words;

The verse begins, “To deliver you from the strange woman, .... Solomon began with the words, “to deliver you” or “to rescue, save and liberate you, Solomon's son” “from the strange woman” which means “separate and apart from the loathsome, estranged, prostitute and harlot female”. Solomon shared how the people who are “froward in their paths” desire to cause his son to fall into a relationship with a female prostitute or harlot, and Solomon's wise words would rescue him from her.

The verse continues, “... even from the stranger which flatters with her words;” Solomon added the words, “even from the stranger” or “indeed and also separate and apart from the loathsome and estranged person” “which flatters” which means “who plunders, apportions, assigns and divides” “with her words” or “by the use of her, the stranger's, noise and sound of uttered words”. Solomon said the loathsome and estranged woman uses her “words” to divide and plunder her victims.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon continued to warn his son against women who are “crooked” and “froward in their paths”. Solomon wanted his son to be saved from women who would entice him with her plundering “words”, and God wants everyone to be warned of people who would draw them into nefarious ways and activities. God loves us, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of the world, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and save and protect us from people who want us to participate in activities that will destroy our lives.

Next time Solomon shares how the strange woman, “forsakes the guide of her youth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
