In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “Let not mercy and truth forsake you: bind them about your neck; write them upon the table of your heart”, and in chapter three and verse four of Proverbs Solomon said, “so shall you find favor and good understanding” where we read,
So shall you find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
The verse begins, “... So shall you find favor and good understanding ...”. Solomon began with the words, “so shall you find favor” or “then and at that time will you, Solomon's son, attain, secure, acquire and discover grace, charm, elegance and acceptance” “and good understanding” which means “and pleasant, agreeable, excellent and valuable wisdom, prudence, insight, cunning and craft”. Solomon shared how his son will acquire and secure grace, charm and acceptance when he inscribes his father's laws and commandments upon his “heart”.
The verse continues, “... in the sight of God and man.” Solomon added the words, “in the sight” or “within the eye, face, vision and mental and spiritual faculties” “of God” which means “belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “and man” or “and people whether male or female”. Solomon said his son would “find favor and good understanding” within the presence and faculties of the Divine judge Jehovah God and people.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon's son would not only acquire acceptance and valuable wisdom from Jehovah God, but also from people as well. God wants to give us His “favor”, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and extend His grace to us before Himself and in the presence of people.
Next time Solomon says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
