In Psalms one hundred four the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. You covered it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At your rebuke they fled; at the voice of your thunder they hasted away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which you have founded for them”, and in chapter one hundred four and verse nine of Psalms the Psalmist said, “you have set a bound that they may not pass over” where we read,
You have set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
The verse begins, “You have set a bound that they may not pass over;” The Psalmist began with the words, “you have set a bound” or “you, Jehovah God, set, fixed, appointed and ordained a boarder, limit and boundary” “that they may not pass over” which means “so they, the waters, are unable to cross, overflow, go over and beyond”. The Psalmist recalled how Jehovah God appointed a fixed boundary so the waters were unable to cross and go beyond them.
The verse goes on to say, “that they turn not again to cover the earth.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “that they turn not again” or “so they, the waters, do not return or go back another time” “to cover the earth” which means “to conceal, hide and spread over the land, ground, territory, region and world”. The Psalmist referred to the way the waters that reach the boundaries Jehovah God has set do not return to cover the world again.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist said Jehovah God established a fixed boundary for the waters of the world, and when they reach it, they do not pass. The shores of the world restrain the waters, and even when they temporarily overflow, they remain limited. God controls them. This same God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for our sins and resurrected back to life three days later. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to observe His power and authority over the waters of the seas.
Next time the Psalmist says of Jehovah God, “He sends the springs into valleys”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
