Esteeming All God's Precepts - Psalms 119:128

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, It is time for you, LORD, to work: for they have made void your law, therefore I love your commandments above gold; yes, above fine gold”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred and twenty-eight of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “I esteem all your precepts … to be right” where we read,

Therefore I esteem all your precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

The verse begins, “Therefore I esteem all your precepts concerning all things to be right; The Psalmist began with the words, “therefore I esteem” or “then, wherefore and on this account I, the Psalmist, consider right, straight, level and lawful” “all your precepts” which means “each, every, the whole and everyone of your, Jehovah God's, commandments, appointments and mandates” “concerning all things” or “regarding, with reference to and about each, every, the whole and everyone of the possibilities” “to be right” which means “to exist as straight, level and lawful”. The Psalmist said because he valued the commandments of Jehovah God to be more valuable than pure gold, he regarded His mandates to be correct and right.

The verse continues, and I hate every false way. The Psalmist added the words, “and I hate” or “and I, the Psalmist, am as an enemy, foe and odious to ” “every false way” which means “each, the whole and everyone of the lying, deceptive, disappointing and fraudulent passings of life or traveled paths”. The Psalmist said he was as an enemy to any fraudulent and deceptive way to live.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist highly exalted Jehovah God's commandments and law, and therefore he was as an enemy to every way of living that was deceptive and fraudulent. God knows the best way for us to live, and He provided His commandments for our provision and protection. We, however, have violated His law and have become sinners as a result. God observed this and knew the penalty for sin is death (See Romans 6:23). This is not what God wanted for mankind. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us a love for His “precepts” and a hatred for “every false way” that is available to believe.

Next time we begin the next section of Psalm one hundred nineteen which begins with the Hebrew letter “PE” where the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “your testimonies are wonderful”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
