Psalms one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred twenty nine begins the next section of this chapter with the Hebrew letter “PE” where the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “your testimonies are wonderful” where we read,
Your testimonies are wonderful: therefore does my soul keep them.
The verse begins, “Your testimonies are wonderful:” The Psalmist began with the words, “your testimonies” or “your, Jehovah God's, Divine witnesses” “are wonderful” which means “exist as marvelous, extraordinary and miraculous”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's Divine witnesses are extraordinary and marvelous.
The verse goes on to say, “therefore does my soul keep them.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “therefore does my soul” or “wherefore, then and on this account my, the Psalmist's, heart, mind, will, desires, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and passions” “keep them” which means “guard over, preserve and observe them, the Divine witnesses of Jehovah God”. Because Jehovah God's Divine witnesses are extraordinary and marvelous, he purposed to preserve and observe them with his heart, mind and will.
When we consider the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist valued the Divine witness of Jehovah God. He purposed to observe what God had to say, and anyone who desires to have a personal intimate relationship with God should do the same. God knew our natural inclination would be to violate His “witness”, so He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for our errors and wrongs. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to value His extraordinary words and be purposed to take heed to them.
Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “the entrance of your words give light”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
