Eyes Failing for God's Salvation - Psalms 119:123

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “Be surety for your servant for good: let not the proud oppress me”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred and twenty-three of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “my eyes fail for your salvation” where we read,

My eyes fail for your salvation, and for the word of your righteousness.

The verse begins, “My eyes fail for your salvation, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “my eyes fail” or “my, the Psalmist's, physical eyes or mental and spiritual faculties are complete, at an end, accomplished and fulfilled” “for your salvation” which means “on behalf of your, Jehovah God's, liberation, rescue and deliverance”. The Psalmist shared how his physical and spiritual “eyes” were spent toward the liberation and deliverance of Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say, “... and for the word of your righteousness. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and for the word” or “and on behalf of the speech, utterance and commandment” “of your righteousness” which means “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, rightness, justice, deliverance, victory and prosperity”. The Psalmist included Jehovah God's utterances and commands in that which his physical and spiritual “eyes” desired.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist had a passionate desire for God's “salvation” and righteous “word”. God wants us to love His “word”, and when we take heed to observe it, He will bless us with His presence and goodness. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of every person, and His invitation is to all people to receive Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”. When we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a passionate desire for His righteous “word” and His “salvation”.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “deal with your servant according unto your mercy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
