In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “righteous are you, O LORD, and upright are your judgments”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred and thirty-eight of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “your testimonies that you have commanded are righteous” where we read,
Your testimonies that you have commanded are righteous and very faithful.
The verse begins, “Your testimonies that you have commanded ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “your testimonies” or “your, Jehovah God's, Divine witnesses” “that you have commanded” which means “that you, Jehovah God, have charged, ordered and appointed” are as follows. The Psalmist referred to Jehovah God's Divine witnesses that He ordered and appointed.
The verse continues, “... are righteous and very faithful.” The Psalmist added the words, “are righteous” or “exist as just, in covenant keeping redemption and toward deliverance, victory and prosperity” “and very faithful” which means “and exceedingly and abundantly firm, steadfast and secure”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's Divine witnesses were not only just and toward victory, but also exceedingly firm and steadfast.
When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we discover how he appreciated and valued the Divine witnesses of Jehovah God. He knew they were not only ordered by God, but they were given to mankind in such a manner that they were just and steadfast as well. God loves people, and He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins, errors and wrongs of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and show us the value of His “righteous and very faithful” testimonies that He has provided on our behalf.
Next time the Psalmist says, “my zeal has consumed me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
