The Entrance of God's Word Gives Light - Psalms 119:130

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “your testimonies are wonderful: therefore does my soul keep them”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred and thirty of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “the entrance of your words give light” where we read,

The entrance of your words gives light; it gives understanding unto the simple.

The verse begins, “The entrance of your words gives light; The Psalmist began with the words, “the entrance of your words” or “the opening, unfolding and doorway pertaining to your, Jehovah God's, speeches, utterances, business, occupation, manner and acts” “gives light” which means “shines, illuminates, lights up and kindles”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God's speech, utterance and manner provides illumination to people.

The verse continues, “it gives understanding unto the simple. The Psalmist added the words, “it gives understanding” or “it, the entrance of Jehovah God's words, grants, provides, produces and bestows discernment, consideration, perception, observation and discretion” “unto the simple” which means “toward people who are foolish, naive and silly”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God's “words” provide discernment and discretion to people who are naive and foolish.

When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he knew the illumination that is available within Jehovah God's “words”. He knew God's “words” provide perception and discernment to people who are normally without discretion. God makes Himself available to everyone through His “word”, the Bible, and when we study His “word”, we discover how mankind sinned against Him, so He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the world. Whoever believes and trusts in Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and grow in their “understanding” of Him, His Son Jesus and His ways throughout their lives.

Next time the Psalmist says, “I opened my mouth and panted”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
