How Sweet are God's Words - Psalms 119:103

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “I have not departed from your judgments: for you have taught me”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred and three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “how sweet are your words unto my taste” where we read,

How sweet are your words unto my taste! yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

The verse begins, “How sweet are your words unto my taste! The Psalmist began with the words, “how sweet are your words” or “what slippery, smooth, agreeable, pleasant, kind and with purpose and reason exist your, Jehovah God's, speeches, utterances, commandments and laws” “unto my taste” which means “toward my, the Psalmist's, palate, mouth and gums”! The Psalmist said Jehovah God's speeches and utterances were smooth and agreeable to his mouth.

The verse goes on to say, yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! The Psalmist continued with the words, “yes, sweeter than honey” or “even so and indeed more slippery, smooth and agreeable than gummy and sticky syrup” “to my mouth” which means “unto my, the Psalmist's, orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking”. The Psalmist confirmed that Jehovah God's “word” was more pleasant and smooth than sticky honey syrup to his “mouth”.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist enjoyed the “word” of Jehovah God so much that it was like “pleasant sweet honey” in his mouth. God wants us to appreciate and value His “words”, and when we realize He gave us His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, we have the opportunity to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and to learn to appreciate His “word” like precious sweet honey in our mouths.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “through your precepts I get understanding”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
