The Wicked All Put Away - Psalms 119:119

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “You have trodden down all them that err from your statutes: for their deceit is falsehood”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred and nineteen of Psalm the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “you put away all the wicked of the earth” where we read,

You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross: therefore I love your testimonies.

The verse begins, “You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross: The Psalmist began with the words, “you put away” or “you, Jehovah God, ceased, desisted, put to an end, exterminated and destroyed” “all the wicked” which means “each, every, the whole and everyone of the people who are criminal, guilty of crime, ungodly, evil and hostile to God” “of the earth” or “belonging to the territory, country, region, district and world” “like dross” which means “similar and in likeness to scoria in the sense of refuse”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God exterminated everyone of the people whether male or female who exist in the world like a sense of refuse that is scraped off the top of boiling silver.

The verse goes on to say, “therefore I love your testimonies. The Psalmist continued with the words, “therefore I love” or “then, wherefore and on this account I, the Psalmist, have deep affection for” “your testimonies” which means “your, Jehovah God's, Divine witnesses”. The Psalmist said because Jehovah God eliminated every one of the people who are evil and ungodly from the world, he was deeply affectionate toward Jehovah God's “witness”.

When we mediate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist knew Jehovah God would indeed contend with people who were ungodly and hostile to Him, and this should cause everyone to fall in love with God's “Divine witnesses”. God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to “love” His “testimonies” both in this world and in the world to come.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “my flesh trembles for fear of you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
