In the book of Proverbs Solomon shared how wisdom said, “I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes. When your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish comes upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me. For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD. They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof”, and in chapter one and verse thirty-one of Proverbs Solomon said, “they shall eat of the fruit of their own way” where we read,
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
The verse begins, “Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “therefore shall they eat” or “then, wherefore, these things being so and on this account will they, the people who refuse and reject wisdom's words, consume and devour” “of the fruit” which means “pertaining to the works, acts and deeds” “of their own way” or “belonging to their, the people who refuse and reject the words of wisdom's, own personal journey, direction, path and course of life”. Solomon shared how the people who refuse to receive the words of wisdom will consume the acts and deeds of their own direction and course of life.
The verse continues, “... and be filled with their own devices. Solomon added the words, “and be filled” or “” “with their own devices” which means “by the use of their, the people who refused and rejected wisdom's words', own personal plans, counsel and principles”. Solomon said the people who refuse and reject wisdom's words would be sated, satisfied and surfeited by their own personal plans and principles.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon said the people who ignore and neglect wisdom would suffer from their error in doing so. God wants us to have His wisdom to make our way in the world. When we understand that His Son Jesus was sent into the world to be crucified on the cross for our sins, we can receive forgiveness of sins, be granted everlasting life and make our way through life having His plans and principles before us in our course of life.
Next time Solomon says, “for the turning away of the simple shall slay them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
