In Psalms one hundred and forty nine the Psalmist said, “Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp”, and in chapter one hundred and forty nine and verse four of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the LORD takes pleasure in his people” where we read,
For the LORD takes pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.
The verse begins, “For the LORD takes pleasure in his people:”. The Psalmist began with the words, “for the LORD” or “because, since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “takes pleasure” which means “is pleased with, favorable to, accepting and takes satisfaction” “in his people” or “within his, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female”. The Psalmist said the reason the people of “Israel” and the “children of Zion” should praise Jehovah God with singing, dancing and musical instruments was because He is favorable and accepting of them.
The verse goes on to say, “he will beautify the meek with salvation.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “he will beautify the meek” or “he, Jehovah God, shall glorify, adorn and embellish people who are poor, humble, afflicted and needy” “with salvation” which means “by the use of rescue, liberation and deliverance”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God would adorn and embellish people who are humble and afflicted by the use of His deliverance and liberation.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said Jehovah God is favorable to His human beings, and He shall glorify and embellish people with liberation who humble themselves before Him. God wants a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and not only show us favor, but also embellish us with His “salvation” and glory.
Next time the Psalmist says, “Let the saints be joyful in glory”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
