Young Men, Maidens, Old Men and Children - Psalms 148:12

In Psalms one hundred and forty eight the Psalmist said, “Praise the LORD from the earth, you dragons, and all deeps. Fire, and hail; snow, and vapor; stormy wind fulfilling his word. Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl. Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth”, and in Psalms one hundred and forty eight and verse twelve of Psalms the Psalmist shared about about, “young men, maidens, old men and children” where we read,

Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:

The verse begins, Both young men, and maidens;. The Psalmist began with the words, “both young men” or “including youthful chosen males”, “and maidens” which means “and young virgin women”. The Psalmist called upon youthful males and young virgin women to also give adoration and thanksgiving to Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say, “old men, and children:” The Psalmist continued with the words, “old men” or “aged, ancient and elder male human beings”, “and children” which means “and youthful lads, lasses, boys and girls”. The Psalmist wanted elderly males and boys and girls to give honor, glory and thanksgiving to Jehovah God.

When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he wanted everyone both young and old to worship Jehovah God. Every person is to worship God, and regardless of their sex, age or origin, they are to give homage to Jehovah God. Paul the apostle wrote, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God” (See Romans 14:11), and “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth” (Philippians 2:10), and it is certain that everyone will worship Jesus Christ as LORD some day. God wants us to yield to Jesus now because He came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to begin our worship of Him at the present time and unto all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says , “Let them praise the name of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
