They Shall Call Upon Me - Proverbs 1:28

In the book of Proverbs Solomon shared how wisdom says, “I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes. When your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish comes upon you”, and in chapter one and verse twenty-eight of Proverbs Solomon said, “they shall call upon me, but I will not answer” where we read,

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

The verse begins, Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer;. Solomon began with the words, “then shall they call” or “at that time will they, the people who refused the words of wisdom, cry out, proclaim, summon and give invitation” “upon me” which means “to me, wisdom”, “but I will not answer” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover I, wisdom, shall in no way or manner respond to or speak as a witness”. Solomon shared how the people who refused and rejected the counsel of wisdom's words would cry out to for help, but wisdom would in no way or manner respond to them.

The verse goes on to say, “they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:” Solomon continued with the words, “they shall seek me early” or “the people who refused the words of wisdom will earnestly look for and painstakingly search for me, wisdom, betimes or very soon in the morning”, “but they shall not find me” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover they, the people who refused the words of wisdom” will in no way or manner secure, acquire, get, find out, detect or discover, me, wisdom”. Solomon said people who refuse and reject wisdom's words would look for him very soon in the morning, however, their attempts would be futile because they will in no way discover him.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon knew people who rejected wise words would some day be in need of them, and when trouble comes and they cry out to him, they would have no one to respond. He also knew those in trouble would attempt to connect with “wise words” at an “early” time of day, but they would not be available. The time for having a personal relationship with God is now, and anyone who realizes He gave His Only Begotten Son Jesus to the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind may receive Him as their “Savior and Lord”. When we do, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His “wisdom” to advise us in advance of difficulties and distresses.

Next time Solomon says, “they hated knowledge”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
