Let Them Praise the Name of the LORD - Psalms 148:13

In Psalms one hundred and forty eight the Psalmist said, “Praise the LORD from the earth, you dragons, and all deeps. Fire, and hail; snow, and vapor; stormy wind fulfilling his word. Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl. Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth. Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children”, and in Psalms one hundred and forty eight and verse thirteen of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Let them praise the name of the LORD” where we read,

Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent;

his glory is above the earth and heaven.

The verse begins, Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent;. The Psalmist began with the words, “let them praise” or “allow and permit them, the young men, maidens, old men and children give thanksgiving, adoration and worship to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “the name of the LORD” which means “the fame, reputation and glory belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God”: “for his name alone” or “because, since and on account that his, Jehovah God's, fame, reputation and glory solely and by it's own self” “is excellent” which means “exists as inaccessibly high, exalted, strong and safe”. The Psalmist wanted the young men, maidens, old men and children to give adoration and thanksgiving to Jehovah God because God's fame, reputation and glory solely exists as inaccessibly high and exalted.

The verse continues, “his glory is above the earth and heaven.” The Psalmist added the words, “his glory” or “his, Jehovah God's, splendor, majesty and vigor” “is above the earth” which means “exists beyond and over the country, territory, region, district and world” “and heaven” or “and visible sky, atmosphere, abode of the stars and dwelling place of Jehovah God”. The Psalmist said the splendor and majesty of Jehovah God exists beyond and above the sky, atmosphere and dwelling place of God Himself.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist wanted the young men, maidens, old men and children to give adoration and thanksgiving to Jehovah God because God's fame, reputation and glory exceeds anything that exists within the world and “heaven” itself. God wants us to worship Him, and when we surrender to Him through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for our sins, He will forgive us, give us eternal life and allow us to give Him glory, honor and thanksgiving forever and ever.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “exalts the horn of his people”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
