Keeping the Paths of Judgment - Proverbs 2:8

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly”, and in chapter two and verse eight of Proverbs Solomon said, “he keeps the paths of judgment” where we read,

He keeps the paths of judgment, and preserves the way of his saints.

The verse begins, He keeps the paths of judgment,. Solomon began with the words, “he keeps the paths” or “he, Jehovah God, guards, watches over, preserves and observes the travels, roads, passing of life and ways to live” “of judgment” which means “pertaining to justice, ordinance, process, procedure, litigation, decision, manner and plan”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God watches over the ways pertaining to justice, procedure and litigation.

The verse continues, “... and preserves the way of his saints.” Solomon added the words, “and preserves the way” or “and keeps, guards, watches over, has charge of and protects the path, journey, manner, habit and course of life” “of his saints” which means “belonging to his, Jehovah God's, faithful, kind, godly and pious one”. Solomon said Jehovah God watches over and protects the course of life of the people who are faithful and pious.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God is involved in the lives of the people who are faithful and pious before Him. This is the kind of relationship God wants with every person, however, sin separates people from a relationship with God. God so loved people that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and watch over us as we live in a godly manner before Him.

Next time Solomon says, “then shall you understand righteousness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
