The LORD Gives Wisdom - Proverbs 2:6

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “Yes, if you cry after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding. If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures. Then shall you understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God”, and in chapter two and verse six of Proverbs Solomon said, “the LORD gives wisdom” where we read,

For the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

The verse begins, “For the LORD gives wisdom:”. Solomon began with the words, “for the LORD” or “because, since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “gives wisdom” which means “provides, grants, ascribes, employs, devotes and consecrates shrewdness, skill and prudence”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God is the one who provides skill and prudence to people.

The verse continues, “out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” Solomon added the words, “out of his mouth” or “from his, Jehovah God's, orifice in the face used for speaking and declaring” “comes knowledge” which means “proceeds, arises and appears skill, perception, discernment and cunning” “and understanding” or “and intelligence, insight, caprice, reason and discretion”. Solomon said from Jehovah God's orifice for speaking proceeds discernment and cunning.

When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how he knew the source for “wisdom” is Jehovah God, and God makes declarations of discernment, cunning and intelligence. God is all knowing and all-wise, and when we surrender to Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to receive His “wisdom” and comprehend His “knowledge and understanding” when He speaks.
