Established Forever and Ever - Psalms 148:6

In Psalms one hundred and forty eight the Psalmist said, “Praise you him, all his angels: praise you him, all his hosts. Praise you him, sun and moon: praise him, all you stars of light. Praise him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters that be above the heaven. Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created”, and in chapter one hundred and forty eight and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “has also established them for ever and ever” where we read,

He has also established them for ever and ever: he has made a decree which shall not pass.

The verse begins, He has also established them for ever and ever:. The Psalmist began with the words, “He has also established them” or “He, Jehovah God, has even so and indeed caused them, the angels, hosts, sun, moon, stars, heavens and waters, to stand, remain, endure and be present” “for ever and ever” which means “for long duration, unto futurity, everlasting, perpetually and unto perpetuity”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God caused His created things to remain for long duration and perpetually.

The verse goes on to say, “he has made a decree which shall not pass.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “he has made a decree” or “he, Jehovah God, has put forth, set, bestowed, granted and given a statute, ordinance, limit and prescribed portion” “which shall not pass” which means “that will in no way or manner be taken away, alienated or advanced”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God set forth a statute or ordinance that will in no way be taken away.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God caused his created elements to remain, and He set forth a statute that was to endure forever. God created the world and everything within it. He created us, and He wants a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins and rose from the grave three days later. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, give us eternal life and “establish” us according to His eternal ordinances that remain eternally.

Next time the Psalmist says, “praise the LORD from the earth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
