In Psalms one hundred and forty eight the Psalmist said, “Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven”, and in Psalms one hundred and forty eight and verse fourteen of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “exalts the horn of his people” where we read,
He also exalts the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints;
even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise you the LORD.
The verse begins, “He also exalts the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints;”. The Psalmist began with the words, “he also exalts the horn” or “He, Jehovah God, even so and indeed raises, lifts up and makes lofty the strength, power and absolute ability” “of his people” which means “belonging to his, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female”, “the praise” or “the thanksgiving, adoration and worship” “of all his saints” which means “belonging to each, every, the whole and everyone of his, Jehovah God's, faithful, kind, godly and pious ones”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God lifts up the power and strength belonging to His own human beings both male and female and the adoration and thanksgiving belonging to each and everyone of His godly and pious ones.
The verse goes on to say, “even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise you the LORD.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “even of the children” or “indeed and also belonging to the offspring and progeny” “of Israel” which means “belonging to the people of Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob”, “a people near unto him” or “and nation or group of human beings who are close at hand and next to him, Jehovah God”. “Praise you” which means “you people reading and listening to the words of the Psalmist give thanksgiving, adoration and worship to” “the LORD” which refers to “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist included the offspring of the nation of “Israel” who are next to Jehovah God to be among those God exalts as he exhorted his readers to give adoration and thanksgiving to Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God lifts up the power of His nation of “Israel” and their offspring who are close to Him. God wants us to know that He rules over all His creation and particularly the “people” of Israel. God blessed “Israel” because they were to be the nation through whom all the world would be blessed. (See Genesis 18:18, 22:18 and Galatians 3:8) God sent His Son Jesus into the world through the nation of “Israel” to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins grant us everlasting life and allow us to be among His people who give Him glory, honor and thanksgiving for all eternity.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “Sing unto the LORD a new song”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
