In the book of Proverbs Solomon said “Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. Because I have called, and you refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded”, and in chapter one and verse twenty-five of Proverbs Solomon said, “you have set at nought all my counsel” where we read,
But you have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
The verse begins, “But you have set at nought all my counsel, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “but you have set at nought” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, Solomon's son and every person, have ignored, avoided and neglected” “all my counsel” which means “each, every, the whole and everything within my, wisdom's, prudence, purpose and advice”. Solomon shared how wisdom spoke to people, however, they ignored and avoided everything he had to say.
The verse continues, “and would none of my reproof:” Solomon added the words, “and would none” or “and did not desire, want, yield to or accept one bit or any” “of my reproof” which means “of my, wisdom's, correction, arguments, punishments, chastisements and rebukes”. Solomon said those listening to the corrective words of wisdom did not desire anything he had to say.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how wisdom is constantly available for all people to receive, however, most people reject it. Rather than conduct themselves according to the wise ways of God, they go after their own thoughts, ideas and acts. God knows everything, and He knows the way we are to conduct ourselves within the world and before His eyes. God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us how to listen to His “wisdom” every day of our lives.
Next time Solomon says, “I will also laugh at your calamity”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
