Praise God Upon the Loud Cymbals - Psalms 150:5

In Psalms one hundred and fifty the Psalmist said to praise Jehovah God, “with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs”, and in chapter one hundred and fifty and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Praise him upon the loud cymbals” where we read,

Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

The verse begins, Praise him upon the loud cymbals:. The Psalmist began with the words, “Praise him” or “give worship, adoration and thanksgiving to him, Jehovah God“upon the loud cymbals” which means “on the blasting or roaring whirring, clattering, buzzing and clanging metal instruments”. The Psalmist exhorted his readers and listeners to give Jehovah God adoration and thanksgiving by the use of blasting and clattering metal instruments known as “cymbals”.

The verse goes on to say, “praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “praise him” or “give adoration and thanksgiving to him, Jehovah God” “upon the high sounding cymbals” which means “on the alarming, joyful, jubilant and battle-cry metal instruments”. The Psalmist said to give Jehovah God adoration and thanksgiving by the use of alarming and jubilant metal instruments called “cymbals”.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist encouraged his readers and listeners to worship Jehovah God with “cymbals” that were both “blasting” and “joyful”. We can imagine the noise these “cymbals” were able to make as the players of them employed their usefulness. God loves people to worship Him, and He inhabits the praises of His people. (See Psalm 22:3) He gave us His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and enables us to use “loud and high sounding” “cymbals” to give Him honor and glory.

Next time the Psalmist says, “Let every thing that has breath praise the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
