In the book of Proverbs Solomon shared how wisdom says, “I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes. When your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish comes upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me. For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD”, and in chapter one and verse thirty of Proverbs Solomon said, “they would none of my counsel” where we read,
They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
The verse begins, “They would none of my counsel:”. Solomon began with the words, “they would none” or “they, the people who refused and rejected the words of wisdom, were unwilling, without consent to and unyielding” “of my counsel” which means “toward my, wisdom's, advice, purpose and prudence”. Solomon shared how the people who rejected the words of wisdom were unwilling and unyielding to the advice and prudence of wisdom.
The verse goes on to say, “they despised all my reproof.” Solomon continued with the words, “they despised” or “they, the people who refused and rejected the words of wisdom, spurned, contemned, abhorred and blasphemed” “all my reproof” which means “each, every and the whole of my, wisdom's, correction, punishment, chastisement and rebuke”. Solomon said the people who refused and rejected the words of wisdom abhorred every word of wisdom's rebuke.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the people who refused to listen to the words of wisdom were unyielding to the advice and purposes of Jehovah God. God has given us the Bible as His Holy word, and when we read and study the scriptures, we discover more about Him, His Son Jesus and His ways for us to be in this world. However, even though He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, people refuse to receive Him and thereby forsake having their sins forgiven. They will not inherit eternal life with God as a result which should inspire us to desire God's wisdom and never abhor any of his correction. (See Galatians 5:21)
Next time Solomon says, “they shall eat of the fruit of their own way”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
