In Psalms one hundred and forty eight the Psalmist said, “Praise the LORD from the earth, you dragons, and all deeps. Fire, and hail; snow, and vapor; stormy wind fulfilling his word”, and in Psalms one hundred and forty eight and verse nine the Psalmist shared about about, “mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars” where we read,
Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:
The verse begins, “Mountains, and all hills;”. The Psalmist began with the word, “mountains” or “hill country, risings above the plains and ranges of hills”, “and all hills” which means “and each, every, the whole hillocks, little or lower risings”. The Psalmist referred to the mountainous ranges and small risings above the plains that were also to give “praise” to Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “fruitful trees, and all cedars:” The Psalmist added the words, “fruitful trees” or “trees that produce fruit or produce”, “and all cedars” which means “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the ceder timbers or wood”. The Psalmist referred to the fruit bearing trees and every one of the cedar trees that should also give thanksgiving and honor to Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist listed other parts of Jehovah God's creation that were to give Him “praise”. God made the mountains, hills, fruit bearing trees and the cedar trees, and they all align with His purpose and plan. We too were created to give God pleasure, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and be given the opportunity to “praise” Him like the “mountains, hills, fruit bearing trees and cedars”. (See Revelation 4:11)
Next time the Psalmist shares about, “beasts, and all cattle, creeping things, and flying fowl”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
