In Psalms one hundred and forty nine the Psalmist said, “Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds”, and in chapter one hundred and forty nine and verse six the Psalmist said, “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth” where we read,
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;
The verse begins, “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, ...”. The Psalmist began with the words, “let the high praises of God” or “allow and permit the uplifting, exaltation and arising belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “be in their mouth” which means “exist within their, the saints', orifice in the face used for tasting, eating and speaking”. The Psalmist wanted the exalted adoration pertaining to the Divine judge and ruler to exist within the “mouths” of the “saints” who worshiped Him.
The verse goes on to say, “... and a two-edged sword in their hand;” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and a two-edged sword” or “a cutting tool or weapon with two edges” “in their hand” which means “within their, the saints', physical hand of power, might and ability”. The Psalmist wanted there to be a cutting tool or weapon that has two edges within their hands of power and might.
When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we discover how he wanted people who were godly and pious to allow exalted thanksgiving and adoration of Jehovah God to be within their “speech”, and he wanted them to prepare themselves with a “two-edged” sword in their “hands”. Hebrews chapter four and verse twelve says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”, and through His “word” God reveals to us His plan of salvation through His Son Jesus who was sent into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put “high praises of God” in our mouths and His “two-edged” sword, His word, in our “hands”.
Next time the Psalmist shares about, “executing vengeance upon the heathen”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
